Viber carousels now support 10 cards: what it means for your brand
Last updated on

Rakuten Viber has doubled the number of cards a carousel message can carry, from five to ten. That is twice the products, offers or options in a single message, right inside the chat. It is already live in Abelo.
Twice the shelf space, in the same message.
Viber's October 2026 update lets one carousel message carry up to ten cards, each with its own image, text and button.
A carousel message is a row of cards your customer swipes through without leaving the chat. Each card carries its own image, title, and two buttons, so every card can open a different product page or offer. Until now, Viber allowed up to five cards per carousel. With the update released in October 2026, Rakuten Viber raised the limit to ten.
We have already updated Abelo to match. Ten-card carousels are live in the platform, for campaigns you create and send yourself, and in the Abelo API, for messages triggered from your own systems. If you already send carousels with Abelo, there is nothing to set up. The next carousel you create can carry ten cards.
Why ten cards matter more than it sounds.
Five cards meant guessing what each customer wanted to see. Ten give you room to be right far more often.
With five cards, every carousel was a compromise. A store launching a forty-piece collection had to pick five and hope they were the right five for everyone on the list. A customer who saw nothing they liked swiped past and closed the chat, and the message was spent. In our view, this is the real gain: ten cards double the chances that each person finds the one product worth tapping, without a second message to the same people.
More cards also mean more ways to choose. A carousel can now hold a range rather than a sample: several price points, colours, sizes or categories side by side, or a product together with what goes with it. And because the browsing happens inside Viber, where around 90% of business messages are opened within nearly three minutes, it happens while your message still has the customer's attention, not in a tab they mean to come back to.
Ten is a ceiling, not a target. Customers swipe from the first card, so order still matters: lead with your strongest product or offer, and add cards only when they are worth swiping to. A tight six will outsell a padded ten.
What ten cards mean for your industry.
The extra room works differently depending on what you sell. Here is how it plays out in four industries.
๐ For fashion and apparel: Ten cards hold a whole look rather than a fragment of it: the dress, the jacket, the shoes, the bag and the jewellery that finish it, each one a tap away from its product page. A collection launch can show the drop properly, across categories, instead of five teasers and a link. A sale can mix the most-wanted pieces with the last sizes left, so early birds and bargain hunters both find something to buy.
๐ฑ For electronics and technology: Shoppers compare before they buy. A ten-card carousel can line up a good, a better and a best option at three price points, then add what goes with them: the case, the charger, the extended warranty. The customer compares models and completes the setup in a single swipe, inside the chat, before a price comparison site gets their attention.
๐ For health and beauty: Beauty customers buy routines, not single products. Ten cards are enough to show a complete morning and evening routine step by step, or a full shade range in one message. A customer who bought a cleanser sees the toner, serum, moisturiser and SPF that come next, each with its own button, in the order they would use them.
โ๏ธ For travel and hospitality: A hotel can show every room type, a spa package, airport transfers and the restaurant in one pre-arrival offer. A travel brand can put ten destinations, or ten departure dates, side by side in a seasonal campaign. Upgrades and extras that once needed a second message now sit next to each other, while the guest is already deciding.
Ten cards, personalised for every customer.
More cards only help if they are the right cards. In Abelo, every card can change for every recipient.
Most platforms send the same carousel to everyone. Abelo personalises the image, the text, the button and the link on every card, per recipient, so one campaign becomes thousands of individual carousels. With ten cards to fill instead of five, that difference now counts twice. A customer who buys menswear swipes through menswear. One who shops for her children sees the kids' range. Same campaign, same send.
What drives those choices depends on the data you connect. From any contact list, cards can change with the details you hold and with how people engaged with your past messages. Connect Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento, and they can follow what each customer actually bought, how often and how much. Clicks are tracked per button, so you see which cards people tapped, and with your store connected, the orders and revenue each campaign brought in. See how personalisation works.
Why Abelo keeps pace with every Viber update.
When Rakuten Viber gives brands a new way to sell, we want it in your hands as soon as it is live. Ten-card carousels are the latest.
Abelo is an Official Rakuten Viber Messaging Partner. Your messages go out directly under your own verified business name, at provider rates, with no reseller in the chain. We treat every Viber update the same way: when Viber changes what a business message can do, we update the platform and the API so you can use it in your next campaign, not next quarter. If a Viber message cannot be delivered, it falls back to SMS automatically, and WhatsApp runs from the same platform.
Delivery is only half the job. Connect Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento in minutes, with no developer, and your products, customers and orders sync on their own; on a custom platform, sync via APIs for automated updates or upload a file. Then build segments from real purchases, fill ten personalised cards for each customer, draft copy and visuals with AI in seconds, and track the revenue of every campaign. One platform, one contract. See Abelo on Viber.
